Whatever came first is true. Truth is from the beginning.

Ethiopan Eunuch

So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians. Acts 8:27

Immediately after Philip had baptized him, the eunuch departed from him. For nothing else was lacking to him who had already been instructed by the prophets. He was not ignorant of God the father, nor of the rules as to the [proper] manner of life. Rather, he was merely ignorant of the coming of the Son of God. After he had learned of this, in a brief while, he went on his way rejoicing, to become the herald in Ethiopia of Christ’s coming. Irenaeus (c. 180, E/W), 1.495

If Philip so easily baptized the chamberlain, let us reflect that there had been interposed a manifest and conspicuous evidence that the Lord deemed him worthy. Tertullian (c. 198, W), 3.677-678
